Part's Clean-up

I don't have many pictures to go with this post. Just the following two pictures that show how Mike has the garage setup getting ready for the car to come back from the painters. We have a couple tables with car parts that he is starting to go through and clean up.

Mike has spent a decent amount of time out at the sand blaster. He is sandblasting and painting parts like crazy. The goal is to try and get as much done and ready so when the car comes back the parts can just go right on the car without delay. The hope is that the reassembly will go a bit smoother like that.

So the car is getting close to being painted. The rear axle has been all painted. In a couple of days we will meet up with the painter to get the rear axle back and give him the rotisserie so he can paint the actual car. Mike plans on putting the new bearings and assembling the brakes on the rear axle so it is less to do when the car gets here.

The seats are going to be picked up in the next couple of days to be reupholstered. They are in bad shape sit that will be interesting to see them all fixed up.

It is getting exciting as things are really starting to happen. It is also majorly stressful. I really hope we can get everything done in time. We have slowed down on ordering car parts until our tax return comes in. Then we can order the rest of what we need. We did however order a reproduction license plate be made. It is a replica of the license plate number my dad had on the car when he bought it. We were originally going to register the car with the original plates but would not be able to do a vintage registration in that case. It makes more sense to register the car with vintage plates then to do normal car registration where we could use the replica plates. So we will just have to use the replica's as part of the car display at the car shows.  it is still neat having a copy of the original plates.

It still blows my mind to think that this car was my dad's first car. Honestly, how many people can say they have their dad's first car? I am so lucky to have it and can't wait for it to be totally restored. It is going to be amazing!  I am also really looking forward to taking the car to it's first car show with my dad. It will just be a really neat experience.
