Tuacahn Car Show

Mike and I got to go to St. George this last weekend for the Car show that was hosted at Tuacahn. Tuacahn just happens to be where I went to High School so it was fun going back to my old stomping ground. Tuacahn is also a very beautiful place and the perfect setting for a car show. It was funny because as soon as we pulled in to Tuacahn, tons of memories came flooding back. I talked Mikes ear off for the first hour of the show just telling him about the fun times I had going to Tuacahn High School.

The car show itself was a lot of fun. Its always fun chatting with other club members and just enjoying the atmosphere. It was nice and sunny and even got a bit hot for awhile, but it was manageable. They were doing the Saturday Market at the same time as the car show so we were able to some window shopping. It was really a nice show and I rather enjoyed it.

After the show, we took a cruise with the other numoa members through Gunlock and over to Pine Valley. I have always loved that drive and thought it would be a fun one to take everyone on. It turned out to be a good cruise with only a couple times we had to turn around. So all-in-all, I think it went well.

We then had the awards banquet which wasn't bad... but awards ceremonies are always so LONG! After the banquet, we got to go tour the Bryners' house and also got to have ice cream cake at the Paiges' house. It was fun chatting with everyone and just getting to socialize. I am really glad that we were able to make it down for the show. It was well worth it!

Day 20...Rust, Blah!

Mike was in the garage again last night. He is still stripping paint off of the car. He decided he was going to do the Back driver side quarter panel. He started on it but discovered it is pretty rusted out. Which means we will have to replace the rear quarter panel. As you can see in the picture below... its not pretty. As Mike would put it "It looks like Swiss Cheese". Its never fun finding more rusted out parts. Hopefully as he continues stripping the paint, we wont have more nasty surprises.

As you can see... the entire roof is done now. He isn't going to sand the Driver Door since it has to be replaced anyways. Also, he stopped working on the rear quarter panel since a lot of that will also be replaced.

I have to keep reminding myself (really Mike reminds me) that even though the majority of the exterior looks paint-less... there is still a long way to go before we will be ready for paint. I get anxious to get it all painted and restored. Its hard being patient sometimes. Someday it will be done... just not tomorrow like I wish.

Back to the garage after a long break.. Day 29

I am starting to get motivation towards the car back. It is a slowly coming back to me. Going to the Auto Expo last weekend really helped. I think the more I am around Mustangs... the more motivation it gives me to get my mustang done.

Mike made it out to the garage again. He surprised me by being out there when I got home from work. I felt bad that he was out in the cold while I was in the nice warm house... but there isn't much I can do at this point to help with the car without getting in the way. I am very appreciative of him getting out there again and working on it.

He got the front driver side fender stripped. He did find some problems, like spots filled with body filler... and the wheel well lip was missing a piece, and there were also some pin hole rust. He is thinking it will be salvageable though so that will be good. Its just going to take a little bit of body work.
